How to Get Discount Lift Tickets to Breckenridge

By Laura Dixon, eHow Contributor How to Get Discount Lift Tickets to Breckenridge thumbnail

Situated in the heart of the Colorado Rockies is one of the state's most popular ski and snowboarding towns--Breckenridge, Colorado. Each year, hundreds of thousands of visitors frequent the area's powdery slopes to make the most of ski season. If you follow a few tips, you can get your own Breckenridge lift tickets at low prices.

Instructions

  • 1. Know the approximate dates when you plan to hit the Breckenridge slopes, as discount tickets and passes are often grouped into specific, seasonal blocks of time.

  • 2. Search for lift tickets online as far ahead of your planned ski date as possible and purchase them quickly to reap the greatest discounts. (See Resources for websites.)

  • 3. Decide whether you want to have the lift tickets mailed to you or whether you prefer to pick them up yourself at one of Breckenridge's ski resort ticket offices, and make sure to check off this option on the website you use to purchase tickets.

  • 4. Stop by chain grocery stores in the Breckenridge area, including Safeway and King Soopers, and inquire about their current lift ticket discounts. These stores will often offer a $5 to $10 lift ticket discount if you make a purchase at the store.

  • 5. Check on websites such as eBay and Craigslist, where people sometimes sell their Breckenridge lift tickets (see Resources). Make sure to check with each individual seller to see whether or not the ticket is transferable before purchasing, and ask for a written guarantee on your purchase. While some sellers take little to nothing off of the original ticket price, you can sometimes find decent bargains.

Tips & Warnings

  • Know that the pricing on discount lift tickets often depends on how many tickets you buy and whether or not you also reserve accommodations along with the tickets. It's a good idea to shop around to find the best deal on tickets or ticket and lodging packages.

  • Don't forget to print out the receipt page provided by the website when you purchase Breckenridge lift tickets. If something goes wrong with your order or if you need a refund, this receipt is essential proof of purchase.
